Bio
Born in Buenos Aires in 1987, he graduated from the Jazz program at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory of Music.
His training began on classical double bass with Carlos Vega and Javier Dragún, followed by jazz studies with Jerónimo Carmona, Hernán Merlo and Ernesto Jodos, and later work with Joëlle Léandre, John Hébert, Carlos Lastra and Rodrigo Domínguez. He was part of Enrique Norris's group for more than a decade.
He leads his steady trio with Ernesto Jodos and Carto Brandán and the group Universo Norris with Ernesto Jodos, Mariano Moreira and Carlos Lastra. He belongs to the LEIBA trio with Santiago Leibson and Nicolás Politzer, and plays in the ensembles led by Juan Pablo Arredondo, Eduardo Elía, among others. He has played in Tony Malaby's quartet on the saxophonist's visits to Buenos Aires, and has shared the stage with Dayna Stephens, John Hollenbeck, Giovanni Guidi, Gianluca Petrella, Filippo Orefice and Tony Glausi.
Five albums carry his name as a leader. In 2019 the National Fund for the Arts awarded him its Creation Grant, supporting research into music for solo double bass that culminated in Isla (2020). Alongside performing, he teaches double bass in the Orchestras and Choirs Program of the City of Buenos Aires and in San Martín's youth orchestra program.

Maximiliano Kirszner offers private lessons in double bass and improvisation, for beginners as well as musicians looking to deepen their command of the language of jazz. Each lesson adapts to the student's goals: technique, sound, repertoire, reading, interpretation and the development of a personal voice.
A graduate of the Jazz program at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory, he teaches in the Orchestras and Choirs Programs of the City of Buenos Aires and of San Martín.
